Farmhouse Playroom
I have been dreaming of the perfect play area with play kitchen basically since I was pregnant. Annalise has really started to get in to pretend play and my nanny has a play kitchen and she LOVES playing with it when she's over there. I haven't really bought many toys for her so I knew I needed buy toddler toys for her. I mean, I don't want to stunt her growth and development! So the planning and scheming began. I saw an idea on Pinterest I knew would be perfect for our basement. Here is what our finished product ended up as. I'm absolutely in love. I mean, Annalise is totally in love, because it's for her, right?
Isn't it darling! I can't wait to keep adding to it. AND, Annalise absolutely loves it. She loves cooking for us and feeding us her concoctions.

7. Plant pot

13. Fabric for seats - 1/2 yard should do
17. Adhesive spray

1. Drill
2. Exacto knife

The House
a. For the ship lap house, I purchased the adhesive wallpaper from Amazon. It's by far the cheapest I saw anywhere and it is good quality. I started by making a frame of the space with masking tape
b. Application is a two person job, but it went on pretty easily actually! Better than some of my other experiences. When we got up to the roof we put it right over the tape and used an exacto knife to cut the shape out. It was pretty easy to see the tape underneath it and cuts smoothly with the exacto knife.
c. I had leftover pallet wood that was 61" inches in length that worked well for my space. I stained it with the minwax color, dark walnut, which is the same as what I used for the table and chairs. I found some black brackets from Home Depot which worked perfectly.
d. I had gotten the starry lights for free product testing a while back and I thought it would look cute, and boy was it! Annalise is very enthralled anytime we turn them on. It makes it so fairytale like.
e. Lastly, for the shelf, I also had a bigger piece of leftover pallet wood and used some larger brackets from Home Depot to install them. Plant and pot are from Ikea!
f. The tobacco basket hung on the wall below the shelf was from Hobby Lobby, which was on sale the day I bought it, otherwise you can always use a 40% off coupon you can snag from their website anytime.
The Table and Chairs
a. My original kitchen inspiration started with the Ikea Latt table and chair set, for which I've seen a million adorable remodels on Pinterest. You will not find a better deal on table on chairs. It's just $29.99 for the whole set!
b. In Ikea fashion, the table and chairs comes completely disassembled in a million pieces, which actually makes it pretty easy for remodels. I layed out all the pieces and stained them. Some pieces of wood seem to be much more absorbent than others so it did take a few coats. I'm really happy with the dark color.
c. For the table top I spray painted with the rustoleum black chalk spray paint. Unfortunately, the paint chipped in the assembly process so it didn't look fantastic, which I was bummed about. This made me realize how much I really need the plexiglass to cover for when she's playing. Lowes will cut the plexiglass for you. Have them cut a piece to 17-3/8 x 23-5/8″.
d. One thing I don't get about these chairs is why they have a huge ledge, it seems like it would be really uncomfortable. I bought 12x12 chair cushions from Hobby Lobby ($4 for 2) and cut it to 10x10. Spray it down with adhesive spray so it doesn't shift. I only bought 1/4 yard of fabric, but I wish I had had a larger piece. When I went to assemble the chairs I realized how tight of a fit it was. It was very difficult and I think I damaged the chair seat a little bit because my fabric got really bunched since I didn't have much wiggle room. So If I did it again I would have more fabric so I could make sure there was as little bunching as possible on the edges.
e. For the paper roll set up I just installed it like I was installing curtains! Easy peasy and so fun and easy for art activities. The paper rolls are only $4 at Ikea and are really large. Such a good deal.
f. Also, I found the adorable wire basket at Ikea for only $12 and couldn't resist! Isn't it so cute?
g. I had also seen several cute ideas for mailboxes and spent a long time looking for the perfect one. This one I ended up getting at Hobby Lobby and I seriously did a happy dance in the store when I found it. It was better than anything I could have imagined.
Kitchen and Play Things
a. The kitchen itself I got at Target. I wish it was MY kitchen. It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
b. I thought a few succulents would look cute accented on the top of the kitchen too. And...Ikea.
c. Target also has a line by Magnolia called Hearth & Hand, and they have a bunch of wooden stuff. I am really into wooden play toys, so when I saw these wooden kitchen/play food things, I couldn't resist.
d. These brought Annalises pretend play up to the next notch. She is obsessed with her pots, pans and utensils the most.
e. I had seen some really cute kitchen ideas with market baskets for putting all the play food in, so when I saw one on Amazon, I snagged it. I know I've seen some really cute ones at Hobby Lobby too and you could always use a coupon so it might be cheaper.
Anyways, there you have it! The most perfect (in my opinion) farmhouse play kitchen area in the world! I sometimes sit down in the basement just so I can stare at and admire it. I don't even want Annalise to play with it too much because I don't her to get tired of it.
